DBarkerMusician (Dom) is a 28-year-old session guitarist and tutor based in Henfield, England. His main areas of expertise fall within the world of musical theatre. Since completing his first pit band gig in September 2016 (Rent The Musical – Guitar/Keys 2) he has gone on to perform in a range of shows across the country for various theatre companies & performing arts colleges, playing predominantly guitar. However, he has also played bass when required. His most regular shows come through RARE Productions, 'the UK's largest youth theatre company'.

Dom has also just completed his first 2 professional theatre contracts, both being produced by Paul Taylor-Mills. 'Come Dine With Me: The Musical', which after completing a run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival it went onto a run at The Turbine Theatre, Battersea. The second show was 'I Wish You Well: The Gwyneth Paltrow Ski Trial Musical', not only did Dom perform at the Edinburgh Fringe 2024 with this show but also went on to complete a 4-week run at the Criterion Theatre in London's West End!

 

With a love for all kinds of music, his experience doesn’t just stop at the theatre. He has previously played for local bands in Brighton, one being ‘Idle Heights’ (a 4 piece rock band resembling sounds of Biffy Clyro and similar bands) and the other being ‘Tanzanite’ (who take inspiration from blending modern rap with jazz and pop vibes). Along with playing in bands, he accompanies local solo artists by providing them with guitar backing at their gigs. He has also completed a couple of short Cruise Ship contracts on P&O Ferries.

 

His most recent ventures have seen him working for a tribute agency called Pure Entertainment where his gigs vary from tributes to Bruno Mars through to Becky Hill. Other current playing comes from regular function work, mainly with a band called 'The Ridgeways'. He also regularly teaches and has done so for 8 years now both privately and within schools. 

 

Academically, Dominic has completed a BA Hons in Professional Musicianship at BIMM Brighton (June 2018) and has received grades 4-7 in Guitar and a grade 5 theory qualification. Other academic achievements include Level 3 & 4 BTEC Music and A-level Music Technology.
